What the code gets you in Germany

Germany is where the April 2026 change was first reported: the referral reward went from 1,000 km of free Supercharging to 2,000 km, and the increase was then applied across Europe. Germany is also the market where that reward is worth the most in money, because German Supercharger rates are among the highest on the continent — the same 2,000 km buys a great deal more value here than in the Netherlands.

Model S / Model X: Model S and Model X buyers typically receive Tesla account credit (around €500) instead of Supercharging.

What that reward is actually worth in Germany

2,000 km at 14–18 kWh/100 km is about 280–360 kWh. At €0.31–€0.60 per kWh that is roughly €87–€216 — the widest value band of any market on this site, and the highest ceiling. If you regularly Supercharge at peak on German motorways, the referral reward is worth materially more to you than the same reward is to a Dutch buyer.

Germany Supercharger price band used above. Roughly €0.31–€0.46 per kWh off-peak for Tesla drivers and €0.43–€0.60 at peak. The gap between off-peak and peak is wider in Germany than in most European markets.

Applying it on Tesla's Germany store

The link opens Tesla’s Germany store with prices in EUR. Order of operations is the same in every market — link first, then confirm the reward in the order summary before paying — and is set out screen by screen in the how-it-works guide.

The referrer's side: The referrer also receives roughly 2,000 km of free Supercharging (or Tesla Credits up to about €500). Full referrer terms.

Germany EV incentives that stack with the code

None of the schemes below affect referral eligibility, or vice versa. Statuses are dated because several change mid-year.

Federal EV purchase incentive (2026)

up to €6,000 for a BEV

Germany relaunched a federal purchase incentive in 2026, applying retroactively to 1 January 2026, with up to €6,000 for a battery-electric car and up to €4,500 for a plug-in hybrid. It is socially tiered rather than flat: the maximum is reserved for lower-income households — households with taxable annual income up to about €45,000 and two or more children under 18 reach the full amount. This is the single most important correction to make to German EV advice written in 2025, which almost universally says no consumer subsidy exists.

exempt to 31 December 2035

Any newly registered electric car in Germany is exempt from motor-vehicle tax through the end of 2035. Unlike a purchase grant this one is not means-tested and not budget-capped, so it is the most reliable German EV saving — and, being an annual cost avoided rather than a cheque, it is the one most often left out of comparisons.

company-car taxation

Private use of an electric company car is taxed on a reduced share of list price, subject to a price ceiling. For many German buyers this remains larger than any purchase incentive.

Ordering in Germany: the thing that actually catches people out

The 2026 federal incentive being income-tiered means two neighbours ordering the identical Model Y can receive very different amounts — so check your own band rather than a headline figure. The Kfz-Steuer exemption attaches at first registration, which makes registration date, not order date, the one to watch.
