How the Tesla referral program works in 2026
Short version: a Tesla owner shares a code, a new buyer applies it at checkout, and Tesla adds a reward — a Full Self-Driving trial in North America, free Supercharging in Europe — while giving the owner account credits. Nobody pays extra. Here's the full detail.
What the buyer gets (depends on your market)
The single most important thing to understand: Tesla's referral reward is not the same everywhere. It tracks whether Full Self-Driving is legally available in your country.

FSD (Supervised) isn't yet approved in most of Europe, which is why Tesla gives free Supercharging there instead. Amounts change periodically — confirm at checkout.
- North America — 3 months of free FSD (Supervised) on Model 3, Model Y and eligible Cybertruck (≈ $297 at $99/mo). US solar buyers get $400 off.
- Europe — ≈ 2,000 km (~1,300 mi) of free Supercharging on Model 3 & Y, doubled across Europe in April 2026. Model S/X get about €500 in Tesla credit instead.
- Australia — a cash-style discount of roughly A$1,400 on Model 3 or Model Y.

Exactly where to enter the code
- Open the referral link — the simplest path. It loads Tesla's official store with the benefit already attached to your session.
- Configure your car — pick model, paint, wheels, interior and any options as normal.
- At the order/payment step, find the Referral Code field and paste the code if it isn't already shown.
- Confirm the reward is listed (the FSD trial, free Supercharging or discount for your market) before you place the order.

What the referrer earns
The owner whose code you use receives $250 in Tesla Credits per successful referral — spendable on Supercharging, service, software upgrades and the Tesla Shop. They're capped at 10 successful referrals per calendar year. It doesn't cost you anything or change your benefit, which is why owners are happy to share.
Does it stack with EV incentives?
Yes. The referral benefit is separate from government EV rebates, tax credits and Tesla's own promotional or inventory pricing. Because those incentives vary widely by country and region, we break them down on each country page.

- “Some codes are worth more.” No — every valid code applies the same reward for your market. Pick one that's verified.
- “I need an account to use one.” No sign-up is required to apply a code as a buyer.
