Is a Tesla referral code free to use?
Yes. Referral codes cost you nothing and require no account or sign-up. You simply apply one when you place your order, and Tesla adds the current buyer benefit — right now that's 3 months of free FSD (North America) or free Supercharging (Europe).
What does a Tesla referral code get me in 2026?
It depends on your country. In North America, new Model 3, Model Y and eligible Cybertruck orders get 3 months of free Full Self-Driving (Supervised) (≈ $297), and US solar buyers get $400 off. In Europe, where FSD isn't yet approved, you get ≈ 2,000 km (~1,300 mi) of free Supercharging instead. In Australia it's a cash-style discount (≈ A$1,400). See your country page for the exact figure.
Where do I enter the referral code?
Apply it at checkout, before you confirm the order. The easiest route is to open the referral link — it opens Tesla's official order page for your country with the benefit already attached. There is no separate “Referral Code” box to paste into, so configure and order in the session the link opened, and check the benefit line in the order summary before you pay.
Do Model S and Model X still get a referral benefit?
In North America, no — Model S and Model X were removed from the referral program in March 2026, so a code adds nothing for buyers of those two. In Europe, S/X buyers typically receive Tesla account credit (around €500) instead of the Supercharging that Model 3/Y get. Either way, Model 3 and Model Y always get the headline reward.
Can I add a code after I've already ordered?
Officially the code must be applied at order time. If you forgot, contact Tesla support immediately — in some cases they can add it before your car is assigned or delivered, but it's not guaranteed. Don't rely on it: apply the code before you confirm.
Does the referral benefit stack with other discounts?
Generally yes. The FSD trial is separate from government EV incentives, and from any inventory or promotional pricing Tesla is running. It does not reduce the car's price — it adds a software trial (or solar discount) on top.

Do Tesla referral credits expire?
Yes. Tesla Credits expire 12 months after their Grant Date — the day Tesla posts them to your account, not the day your friend ordered. Free Supercharging miles or kilometres earned by referring run on a shorter, separate clock: 6 months from their Grant Date. Tesla emails a warning about 30 days before credits lapse.
The rule most owners never hear: another successful referral extends every credit you already hold to 12 months from the newest Grant Date. The worked timeline is in the referral credit extension rule.
Why does my referral show as “pending” in the Tesla app?
Pending means Tesla has recognised the referral but has not granted the reward yet — it is granted once the sale is settled, not at the moment the order is placed. Nothing is spendable while it is pending, and the expiry clock has not started. See what pending means between order and grant.
How do I spend Tesla referral credits?
In the Loot Box in the Tesla app. Redemptions are final, and credits cannot be transferred, reissued or turned into cash. Sources disagree on whether Tesla Shop merchandise is included, so read the options your own Loot Box lists today rather than trusting any third-party list, including ours.
