Why trim, not just model, decides Cybertruck eligibility
Tesla's eligible list for the buyer benefit is specific: Model 3, Model Y, Cybertruck (Premium AWD & Cyberbeast). The excluded list is just as specific: Model S, Model X, Cybertruck Dual Motor AWD. Notice Cybertruck appears on both — that's not a mistake. Premium AWD and Cyberbeast configurations qualify; Dual Motor AWD does not. Model 3 and Model Y don't have that split — every trim of those two qualifies.
How much energy the reward is, model by model
Europe's referral reward is granted in kilometres, not kilowatt-hours. That has a consequence almost no referral page mentions: the less efficient the car, the more paid energy those free kilometres displace, so the identical reward is worth more money on a thirstier model. Below is the same 2,000 km converted at each model's real-world consumption band. Multiply the kWh column by your country's Supercharger rate — the per-country price bands are on each country page.
| Model | Consumption | 2,000 km is roughly |
|---|---|---|
| Model 3 | 13–16 kWh/100 km | 260–320 kWh |
| Model Y | 15–19 kWh/100 km | 300–380 kWh |
| Cybertruck | 25–33 kWh/100 km | 500–660 kWh |
| Model S | 16–21 kWh/100 km | 320–420 kWh |
| Model X | 19–25 kWh/100 km | 380–500 kWh |
The price caps that decide more money than the code does
This is the check to run before you worry about a referral code at all. Government incentives are worth several times the referral reward, and most are gated on a price ceiling rather than on which model you pick — so a fully optioned car can lose a €4,000 bonus to save a €90 charging credit. Because Tesla's prices move week to week and these caps do not, the durable thing to publish is the cap. Check your own configurator total against it.
| Market | Scheme | The figure to beat |
|---|---|---|
| Canada | EVAP | under CAD $50,000 final transaction value Options, paint and delivery all count toward the figure — not the advertised starting price. |
| Netherlands | BPM / MRB (tax side) | no price cap — but weight drives the bill SEPP closed after 2025, so there is no purchase subsidy to lose. Dutch road tax scales with mass, so a heavier trim costs more every year. |
| France | Bonus écologique | price cap plus an environmental score A car can clear the price cap and still fail the production-footprint score. |
| Spain | Plan Auto+ | caps apply, administered regionally The money is national, the queue and paperwork are regional. |
| Australia | FBT exemption | $75,000 from 1 April 2027 Full exemption narrows to cars at or below the cap; above it, a 25% FBT discount. |
Caps and schemes as we could establish them on August 31, 2026; each one is sourced on the relevant country page. Verify your own eligibility at the official source before you budget against it.
Common questions
Why does Cybertruck trim matter, but Model 3 and Model Y trim doesn't?
All Model 3 and Model Y trims qualify — Standard, Long Range or Performance, it doesn't change the referral benefit. Cybertruck is the one model where trim, not the model name, decides eligibility: Premium AWD and Cyberbeast qualify, but Dual Motor AWD is excluded. Confirm your exact configuration's trim name before assuming it's covered.
I already have a Cybertruck Dual Motor AWD on order — can I switch trims to qualify?
That's a configuration change on your existing order, which is between you and Tesla, not something a referral code affects. If you're still configuring, applying the code before you lock in a Premium AWD or Cyberbeast build is the straightforward path; if you've already ordered Dual Motor AWD, check your order status with Tesla directly rather than assuming a trim swap is possible this late.
Will Model S or Model X ever come back into the referral program?
The Model 3 and Model S sit on opposite sides of the current programme — the Model S page has that first-hand ownership history if you're weighing a used S even though it's outside the current referral program. For per-country reward amounts on top of the model breakdown here, see reward by country.
