Tesla Pulled 0% APR on the Model Y: Now What?

In early August 2026, Tesla ended the 0% APR financing offer on the Model Y and raised APR on the pricier Model 3 trims at the same time. If you're financing rather than paying cash, this is worth more attention than the referral code's sticker benefit.

What ended, and when
Tesla ended the 0% APR offer on Model Y (both RWD and AWD) in early August 2026, and raised APR on the pricier Model 3 trims in the same move. While the offer ran, even Model Y Performance — a trim that's typically excluded from 0% deals — had been discounted to 3.99% APR. Reporting ties the timing to Tesla's Q2 2026 earnings: the zero-APR push is credited with driving Q2 sales volume, and it appears to have squeezed margin enough that it lapsed alongside the earnings report.
Does this change when you should order?
If you're paying cash, no — this is purely a financing story and doesn't touch your order at all. If you're financing, it's a real factor: 0% APR means every dollar you borrow costs nothing extra over the loan term, while a standard APR adds real cost that doesn't show up on the configurator's sticker price, only on your monthly payment and total interest paid. That gap is easy to miss if you're only comparing headline prices.
Tesla has a pattern of running promotional financing in bursts tied to sales pushes, and this one lined up with Q2's close. That's worth knowing, but it's not a promise — I have no confirmed date for whether a similar 0% offer returns for Q3 or Q4 2026. If low-cost financing is the deciding factor in your timing, I'd rather tell you plainly that the current window closed than imply a new one is coming.
What this doesn't touch
