Why the Model X isn't eligible
When Tesla reworked the referral program in March 2026, it narrowed buyer benefits to Model 3, Model Y and eligible Cybertruck configurations. Model X was removed, so entering a code on a Model X order does nothing for the buyer.
No buyer referral benefit in North America since March 2026, removed in the same change that dropped the Model S. European reporting again describes account credit in place of charging kilometres for Model S and Model X; treat it as unconfirmed.
Why this page exists at all
The Model X is the least useful model to hunt for a referral code on, and knowing that quickly is the value this page can offer. If a site is advertising a Model X referral discount, that is a reliable signal its program facts have not been rechecked since early 2026.
The Model X trap worth naming
Cross-shoppers assume S and X differ on referral treatment because they differ on almost everything else. They do not: both left the program in the same change, for the same reason, on the same date.
Where the Model X sits against the incentive price caps
Like the Model S, the Model X is above the ceiling for every consumer scheme listed — the price caps and the referral program exclude it for unrelated reasons that happen to land the same way. The full cap table is on the models hub — worth a look even here, because the schemes it lists are entirely separate from the referral program and some may still be open to you.
Running-cost context, since there is no reward to convert: a Model X uses roughly 19–25 kWh/100 km in real-world use. The thirstiest passenger car in the range. As with the Model S, there is no kilometre reward here to convert into money — the figures are running-cost context.
Why I can't give you the owner's-eye view here
Unlike my Model S page, where I'm writing from three years of actually owning one, I've never owned a Model X. I don't want to fake first-hand experience I don't have, so treat this page as the same verified referral-program facts as every other page on this site, minus a personal ownership anecdote for this specific model.
If you're cross-shopping S vs X
Both left the referral program in the same March 2026 change and for the same reason, so the referral answer is identical either way: no benefit on either. For the actual vehicle differences — seating, doors, price — Tesla's own configurator is the accurate, current source; I'd rather point you there than guess at spec numbers that change without notice.
What you can still do
- Check your country's EV incentives — government rebates and tax breaks are separate from the referral program and may still apply.
- If you're open to a Model 3 or Model Y, those do get 3 months of free FSD with a code.
